Two men hold on to each other’s hands choosing negotiation over escaping while the severe counterpoints from J.S. Bach’s The Art of Fugue tick like an unavoidable countdown.
Which weapon can we fight the fear that (inevitable) separation brings and how can we make the distance in between us a space of trust, if not choosing to hold on to each other?
L’età dell’horror (The Age of Horror) stems from the instinct to escape from the other, and, at the same time, from the desire to merge with them. The structure of the work is found in a cyclical repetition of a single phrase and in its progressive variation, as the counterpoints from J.S. Bach’s The Art of Fugue suggest.
This is a UK premiere.
