Liam Riddick wins Dancing Times Award for Best Male Dancer at the 2017 Critics' Circle National Dance Awards

Richard Alston Dance Company dancer Liam Riddick has won the Dancing Times Best Male Dancer Award at the Critics Circle National Dance Awards 2017. Liam has been nominated for seven Critics Circle National Dance Awards in six consecutive years.

The winners were announced at a lunchtime ceremony held at The Barbican Centre on Monday 19 February 2018. The National Dance Awards have been organised by the Dance Section of the Critics’ Circle in each year of this Millennium to celebrate the vigour and variety of Britain’s thriving dance culture. They are presented by the Dance Section of the Critics’ Circle, which brings together around 60 dance writers and critics. They are the only awards given by the body of professional dance critics in the UK.

On collecting his award, Riddick said:

‘I’m so delighted to receive this Award especially as this will be my last season dancing with the Company. Thank you to Richard and the Company for all the wonderful opportunities over the last eight years and to Martin for being a mentor and a friend.’
