Barbican Britten: Phaedra receives glowing reviews

Richard Alston Dance Company recieved rave reviews for its production of Barbican Britten: Phaedra alongside the Britten Sinfonia.

Here is what some of the reviewers have said about the performance:

‘If you were going to ask any choreographer to mark the Britten centenary, Richard Alston would be top of your list. For decades he has proved the most musical of our dancemakers and the one most attuned to the sensitivity and integrity of his chosen scores’  Debra Craine, The Times

‘Alston honours Britten’s formal vision. But he also adds grace notes of his own’ Luke Jennings, The Observer

‘What (Alston) does, he does so beautifully. Revel in it’ Lyndsey Winship, Evening Standard

‘It is Alston I have to thank for this new appreciation of Britten for he is the alchemist here, magically bringing this strangely life-affirming music into beautiful pictures and patterns of movement’ Graham Watts, Londondance.com
