The Place

Applications for Choreodrome 2011 have now closed.

This summer, The Place will open its doors and make its resources available to professional dance artists with a thirst to learn, ideas to pursue and work to try out. Applicants must be based in the UK and working in a contemporary idiom, but otherwise anyone can apply, and it’s all free: directed research opportunities, studios, equipment, support and mentoring.

Choreodrome is an opportunity to…

• Learn new working methods from renowned dance artists
• Undertake choreographic research without the pressure of performance deadlines
• Show work in progress and receive feedback
• Challenge your customary creative process and take risks
• Develop choreographic projects which integrate video and new technology
• Acess the studio space and resources you need for your research
• Meet and develop a relationship with a mentor/outside eye
  

This year, Choreodrome forms part of Summer House, a collection of opportunities for making, learning, sharing, and performance at The Place this summer. It will be made up of six elements:

• Choreodrome Self Directed Research - use our studios, free of charge, to develop your professional choreographic ideas.
• Choreodrome Directed Research - Workshops for professional choreographers and performers with Guy Cools & Lin Snelling, Rui Horta and Eleanor Bauer
• Summer Intensives -Three weeks of intensive classes for all levels 
• Touch Wood – a concurrent season of naked danced ideas on a bare wooden floor
• An International season in the Robin Howard Dance Theatre

• Talks, seminars, barbeques and sharings – both informal and formal
