Work Place
A new artist development programme specifically designed by The Place to address the needs of Britain’s independent choreographers. The Work Place supports up to 12 choreographers each year, to launch and develop their careers in a sustainable way and is specifically designed to harness the full-range of our in-house expertise and to create a model that is unique to artist development provision in the UK.
With the kind support of The Foyle Foundation we have been able to recruit an Artist Manager to support artists during their time on the programme. The John Ellerman Foundation has also provided funding to enable emerging choreographers the chance to create new pieces of work.
Richard Alston Dance Company
It is our intention to create an archive of film footage spanning Richard Alston’s career as a choreographer and the support of John Pemberton has been instrumental in helping us to get this project off the ground. Please see www.thealstonstudio.com
Learn Physical Interactive
A new model for cross-curricular teaching, integrating interactive whiteboards with handheld digital technology. The support of the Esmée Fairbairn Foundation enabled us to work with The Open University to validate the existing model and recommend the way forward.
Core Support
The support of The Monument Trust at this crucial time has helped to ensure that we can protect the artists and the students we serve from changes to higher education and arts funding, whilst continuing to invest in the long-term development of contemporary dance in the UK.
